The matrix I use to prioritize any business request
Happy monday 🙂
When everything feels urgent, nothing moves forward.
Your eCommerce team wants new features.
Your tech team is already overloaded.
Legal has constraints.
And the sponsor says: “Just ship something.”
Here’s how I bring back clarity, fast.
I list every single business and enhancement requests that Marketing, sales and other business teams are requesting (sometimes for ages). Then I score each feature using 4 simple criteria (scale 1 to 5):
- Business impact (5 = strong business value)
- Implementation effort (5 = easy to do)
- Regulatory pressure (5 = must-do for compliance)
- Competitive pressure (5 = already live elsewhere, and it works)
Then I calculate a weighted score.
THe highest scores are the ones you have to implement during next sprint, no debate.
It’s not perfect, but it forces alignment, fast. Your skateholders can’t complain anymore that their request is more important than others.
And it avoids spending 3 weeks arguing over slides and running endless meetings !

Hopefully, just a practical method that works in workshops, with clients, or in a roadmap steering committee.
See you next week
